Plzen, Poland

Here is where beer was invented, or so they say ... Plzen, Czech Republic.  It has some cool old late 19th century architecture, too, with a beautiful huge town square and train station.  And much less commercialization than western Europe.

And the language?  I can't read or understand a single word.

My train ride here was just plain fun.  We got just across the border into the little Czech town of Chub,  It was like taking a step back into the 1950s.  Everything is older and poorer here.  My train had the old compartment cars and I had one to myself from the Czech border to Plzen.  I got to stick my head out the window and I felt like running up and down the walkway (but I didn't).  It is a beautiful country and not so sophisticated.  (My dinner, though, was as good as any I have had anywhere)!

Oh yeah ... and I love how the Germans put all their words together in to a single loooooong word!
