On the Autobahn

I didn't teach today, so I decided to take a short trip for a couple of days over the weekend.  There are some very quaint little towns I have tried to see the last two years, close by, but are so hard to get to because there is no direct train service to them.  So, I decided to go to Wurzburg, wash my clothes, and rent a car!  It is really a tiny little thing, an Opel Corsa.  Never heard of it, right.  Me neither.  But it is not a bad little car.  But then I got on the Autobahn, Germany's freeway system.  And everything you have heard about it is right.  They do drive 100 miles per hour!  Some even faster.  Kind of scary and I am not a slowpoke on the freeways.  Just be very careful when you pull out into that left lane!  I let my speed creep up to 90 just to see.  But I had people coming up behind me wanting to pass.  Then, the trucks are traveling sometimes as slow as half that speed in the right lane.  Well, anyway, I made it here.

European cars have mostly standard transmissions.

No, really, it just means "exit."

That is AMAZING!!!! My kind of freeway! Good thing you weren't on the opposite side of the road/car as well...that'd be really scary!
